Privacy policy
I don’t sell
your personal
information.
That’s the short version, and it’s the part most people come for. The rest of this page explains what I collect, why, who else handles it, how long I keep it and how to get it corrected or deleted, whether you visit hivisdigital.ca, send the contact form, sign up for The Map Pack report or hire me.
HiVis Digital is a sole proprietorship owned and run by Oleksandr Savchenko in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. In this policy, “I”, “me” and “my” mean Oleksandr Savchenko, doing business as HiVis Digital. “You” means anyone who visits the Site or gets in touch. “The Site” means hivisdigital.ca.

01
Information I collect
From the contact form
The form asks for what I need to tell you, in two lines, whether I can help:
- Your name
- Your trade, and the town you work from
- Your phone number, because I reply by phone
- Your email address, if you choose to give it
- Your Google Business Profile link, or your business name if you have no profile yet
- What’s going on, picked from a short list (for example, “the phone stopped ringing”)
- Your answer to the WorkSafeBC clearance question
- Anything you write in the message
- Your tick in the consent box, which lets me call or email you about the enquiry
Your name, trade, phone number and the consent box are required, because I can’t reply without them. Everything else is optional, and you choose what to share. The Site also notes the page you sent the form from and when you sent it.
When you call, email or hire me
If you call or email, I keep what you tell me and the number or address you contact me from. If you hire me, I also keep your billing and business details, the content and photos you send for your site, and the manager access you give me to your accounts.
When you sign up for The Map Pack report
Your email address, plus the date and the page you signed up on. That is my record of your consent.
Collected automatically
When you browse the Site, some information is collected through cookies and similar technology (see Section 05):
- Your IP address and approximate location (city or region)
- Your browser, device and operating system
- The pages you view, what you click and how long you stay
- The website or search that sent you to the Site
- Mouse movement, scrolling and clicks during your visit
The contact form does not use a CAPTCHA. It filters spam with a hidden field that only bots fill in, a time stamp that shows how fast the form was sent, and a short-lived counter that limits repeat sends. The counter is tied to a scrambled version of your IP address and deletes itself automatically.
In plain English
The form asks for what I need to call you back. The rest is standard website analytics.
02
How I use your information
I use personal information to:
- Reply to your enquiry, usually by phone, the same business day
- Check whether I can help, including whether I already work with a business in your trade in your town (one client per trade per town)
- Write your HiVis Blueprint, build your site and do the work you hire me for
- Produce your one-page monthly report if you are a retainer client
- Send The Map Pack report, if you signed up for it (see Section 09)
- Understand how the Site is used and improve its content, speed and ease of use
- Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations
- Detect and prevent spam, fraud and misuse of the Site
Your WorkSafeBC answer helps me understand your business and, if you hire me, decide which credentials belong on your site. I don’t pass it to WorkSafeBC or anyone else.
I don’t use your information for a purpose that isn’t on this list without asking you first.
In plain English
To call you back, do the work, send the newsletter you asked for, improve the Site and keep the books. Nothing else without asking.
03
Client work: your customers’ calls and details
If you are a client, part of my work touches personal information about your customers: calls to your tracking numbers (the caller’s number, the time and length of the call, the source that sent them and, where recording is on, the recording), enquiries sent through your site’s forms, and reviews and messages on your Google profile.
That information belongs to your business. The call-tracking account and its numbers are opened in your name, and the recordings are stored in that account, not in mine. I access it as a manager, only to set up and maintain the tracking, produce your monthly report and show you which calls booked.
For that information, you are the organization responsible under privacy law and I handle it on your behalf, for the work you hired me for and nothing else. I don’t use your customers’ details for my own marketing, I don’t sell them, and I never share them with another client.
Callers have to be told when a call may be recorded. I set up tracked lines to play a short notice at the start of each call before any recording is made, and your site’s privacy policy should say that you use call tracking and recording. You can ask me to switch recording off on any number at any time.
When you leave, the account and the recordings stay with you and my manager access is removed. If one of your customers asks what information you hold about them, the request goes to you as the business they called, and I’ll help you answer it.
In plain English
Your customers’ calls are kept in your account, in your name. I listen to write your report, and for nothing else.
04
The tools and third parties I use
I use a short list of third-party services to run the Site and my business. Each one handles some personal information on my behalf, under its own privacy policy.
ServicePurposeData involved
Google Analytics 4
(Google LLC)
Shows how visitors use the Site and which pages do their job.
Pages viewed, device and browser details, approximate location, shortened IP address, cookie identifiers.
Google Tag Manager
(Google LLC)
Loads and manages the analytics tags listed here.
Acts as a container for other tags; may handle limited data such as IP address and browser details.
Microsoft Clarity
(Microsoft Corporation)
Session replays and heatmaps that show where visitors get stuck.
Session recordings (masked by default), clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, device and browser details, IP address. Microsoft may combine this data with its own for its purposes.
Google Maps
(Google LLC)
Maps on the Site, such as the service areas map. They load only when you press “Show map”.
Nothing until you press “Show map”. After that, IP address, browser details and Google cookies, collected by Google.
Cloudflare
(Cloudflare, Inc.)
Delivers the Site quickly and blocks malicious requests and attacks.
IP address, request details, browser details and security cookies. Requests pass through Cloudflare’s global network before they reach the Site.
Web Hosting Canada
(WHC)
Hosts the Site, keeps it secure and online, and stores the enquiries sent through the form.
Server logs (IP address, time of request, browser details) and the enquiries saved on the Site. Servers are located in Canada.
Email and newsletter service
Delivers my email and sends The Map Pack report.
Your email address and, depending on the service, whether an issue was delivered, opened or clicked.
I do not sell your personal information
These tools run and measure the Site and make sure your enquiry reaches me. None of them is used to build a profile of you for anyone else.
In plain English
Seven services, all listed here, each with its own privacy policy. None of them is a data broker.
05
Cookies and tracking technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses three kinds:
- Strictly necessary: needed for the Site to load quickly and stay secure, including security cookies set by Cloudflare to route requests and block malicious activity.
- Analytics: set by Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to measure and improve how the Site is used.
- Embedded maps: only if you press “Show map”, Google may set its own cookies.
The contact form itself sets no cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of analytics with the tools in Section 10. Blocking some cookies may change how parts of the Site work.
In plain English
Three kinds: essential, analytics and Google’s, only if you open a map. You can block or delete any of them in your browser.
06
Consent
Under PIPA and PIPEDA, I collect, use and disclose personal information with your consent. Consent can be express (for example, when you send the form or sign up for The Map Pack report) or implied (for example, when you keep browsing the Site with analytics cookies). By using the Site and sending me information, you consent to what this policy describes.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contract limits, by contacting me (Section 14). If withdrawing it affects work in progress, I’ll tell you how before anything changes.
In plain English
You can withdraw consent at any time. Some legal and contract obligations outlast it.
07
How I share and disclose information
I share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers: the services in Section 04, which handle data on my behalf to run the Site and my business.
- Platforms you hire me to manage: Google and Meta receive what is needed to run your profile and your ads, in accounts that are in your name.
- Professional advisors: my accountant, bookkeeper or lawyer, where reasonably necessary.
- Legal requirements: where the law, a court order or a valid request from a public authority requires it.
- Reference calls (clients only): at most once a quarter, as the one-page agreement says, I may give a Trade thinking of hiring me your name and business phone number so they can ask you about my work. I ask you first each time.
- Business transfer: if HiVis Digital is sold or reorganized, information may move with it, under the same protections.
I don’t sell personal information, and I never share one client’s information with another client, competitors included.
In plain English
Service providers, the platforms you hire me to run, my accountant, the law, a sale of the business and, for clients, a reference call you have agreed to. That’s the whole list.
08
Data storage and transfers outside Canada
The Site is hosted on servers in Canada. Enquiries sent through the form are saved there, in a part of the Site that only the administrator account (mine) can open, and a copy of each one is emailed to me.
Some of the services I use, including Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Maps and Ads), Microsoft (Clarity) and Cloudflare, are based outside Canada and run global networks. Your information may be processed and stored outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of the country it is in, including lawful access by courts, police and government authorities. By using the Site, you acknowledge this transfer and processing.
In plain English
Hosted in Canada. Some tools are not, so some data crosses the border and falls under foreign law.
09
The Map Pack report, email and CASL
The Map Pack report is my monthly email: which Trades rank for one trade in one town and why, one lesson, and one client result with the number. I send it only to people who signed up for it, or where Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) otherwise allows it, such as an existing client relationship.
Every issue says who it is from, includes my business mailing address and carries an unsubscribe link that works. Unsubscribing stops the newsletter within 10 business days at the latest, and usually the same day. I keep a record of when and where you signed up as proof of your consent.
I don’t buy or rent email lists.
After you unsubscribe, I may still email you about an active job, an invoice, or a legal or account matter.
In plain English
You only get the newsletter if you asked for it. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and it works.
10
Your choices and how to opt out
You can limit tracking and email in these ways:
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Microsoft Clarity: Clarity respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals; you can also clear cookies or use private browsing.
- Your browser: block or delete cookies in its settings.
- The Map Pack report: use the unsubscribe link in any issue, or tell me through the contact form.
- The contact form: leave the optional fields blank.
In plain English
Five practical ways to switch tracking or email off, with the tool names so you can do it now.
11
How long I keep it
I keep personal information only as long as I need it for the purposes in this policy:
- Enquiries: as long as needed to reply and follow up, then for a reasonable period in case you come back. Ask and I’ll delete yours sooner.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that I keep only your email address on a do-not-send list, so you are never added again by mistake.
- Client records: for as long as you are a client, then as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require (generally up to seven years under Canadian tax rules).
- Call recordings and tracking data: in your call-tracking account, in your name, under your settings. My access ends when you leave.
- Analytics: under the default retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, after which it is aggregated or deleted.
When information is no longer needed, I delete it securely or make it anonymous.
In plain English
Enquiries: a reasonable time. Client records: up to seven years, because tax law says so. Recordings: in your account, under your control.
12
Your privacy rights
Under PIPA and PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- See the personal information I hold about you
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- Withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contract limits
- Ask how your information is collected, used and disclosed, and who it has been shared with
To use these rights, contact me (Section 14). I can export or delete what the Site holds about you from the form and the newsletter list, and I may ask you to confirm who you are before I release anything. I’ll answer within the time the law allows, which is 30 days in most cases, and tell you if I need longer.
If you aren’t satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
In plain English
See it, correct it, withdraw consent, complain. Every request comes to me, not a department.
13
Security, children and other websites
Security. I use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards, including an encrypted connection (HTTPS) on every page of the Site. Enquiries saved on the Site can only be opened by the site administrator, which is me. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so I can’t promise absolute security.
Children. The Site and my services are meant for businesses and adults. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent me personal information, contact me and I’ll delete it.
Other websites. The Site links to other websites. I’m not responsible for their privacy practices or content, so read their policies too.
In plain English
An encrypted connection, enquiries only I can open, no data from children, and other sites’ policies are their own.

Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when my practices, the tools I use or the law change. When I do, I’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes are posted here, and active clients hear about them by email. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
In plain English
Check the “Last updated” date at the top. Using the Site after a change means you accept the current version.
This policy covers hivisdigital.ca and HiVis Digital. It does not replace the privacy policy on a client’s own website, which covers the forms, tracking and call recording on that site.
